M106 - LRGB: the real first light ASI6200

After a big struggle to find out why the 6200 was not working as expected (explained in forum) I finally got to the real stuff 😊. The setup is still not quite the way I want it, I do need a new front plate for my filter wheel since my M42 adapter got totally stuck, no chance to get it out, and 42mm is just not enough for the 6200. ATIK already responded and I will get a new front plate soon with an M54 connection, this will be perfect.

About the image: I love the area around M106, it is almost that the main target is not the most important one. The star field and so many other galaxies in this area make this region of the sky worth a visit. And what better to do with the 6200, this one can capture a wonderful area. Love NGC 4127, a perfect side on galaxy. NGC 4220 is not quite as interesting, the dust band at the edge is missing, we need to complaint about this to someone 😊.

I did not count the total number of galaxies visible in this image, the annotated image gives a good feeling for it though.

All in all, I am quite happy about the result, and as so many here on Astrobin I believe I will enjoy the new camera a lot!

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
